/ SEA & MOUNTAIN / ROUTE OF THE BLUNDERBUSS / WINES AND OILS OF L’EMPORDÀ / CYCLING TOUR : SALVADOR DALI / DISCOVERING THE SWEETEST COSTA BRAVA / THE ROAD OF SANT JAUME THROUGH THE LANDS OF GIRONA
Route description
This route will allow us to discover the wine industry and related areas of the D.O. Empordà-Costa Brava, like the towns of Peralada, Vilajuïga, Espolla, Capmany and Cabanes. We will visit the Museum of the ‘Castle of Peralada’, where we can see 14th century objects related to the process of wine production. We will learn about the Mediterranean trilogy of the vineyard, the wheat and the olive tree. In Castelló d’Empúries there is the Echo museum La Farinera, the only mill that still exists of the three that were in the town in the 14th century and which will allow us to see how the original machinery worked. In Palau-sator there is a small Rural Museum with typical agricultural tools and machinery. In the coastal villages of Roses and L’Escala we will be able to get a flavour of the area’s important gastronomic products from the sea and the land. On the last day we will travel on the small roads of L’Empordà to visit charming villages. We will start and finish our stay in Girona, the city of the stone, which we recommend visiting. We will sleep in nice hotels of L’Empordà, where we will be able to relax and enjoy the beach and the area’s life style.
