When the remains of the apostle James of Galícia were discovered in the ninth century, the spot suddenly became a great centre of pilgrimage. The European routes which lead to the city of the apostle converge in the Pyrenees. We have devised a route which follows the Road of Sant Jaume (roughly the Roman Road which goes to Santiago de Compostela) from the French border to Montserrat Monastery, crossing the districts of Girona province in the direction of the city of Vic. Via Alt Empordà we pass through the magnificent city of Girona. We cross the Guilleries mountain range and circling the Pasteral, Susqueda and Sau reservoirs, arrive in the capital of Osona district. We continue to Bages and pass the village of Monistrol before the final ascent to Montserrat mountain.
